Scientific and social impact

The results of the ENCLAVE project will improve the scientific knowledge of coastal morphodynamic processes on the NW Iberian coast, integrating direct measurements of the physical parameters involved in climate change predictions. This project will promote the usefulness of an integrated morphodynamic observation and modelling system adapted to the needs of optimizing coastal observation networks with results to guide regional planners and network operators.

The output of the ENCLAVE project will answer scientific questions, such as:

Morphodynamic model

It will be able to reproduce morphological changes, providing a valuable tool for coastal managers and scientists to forecast local and regional coastal evolution.

Developed model

It lays the foundations for the development of a temperate warning system. It will be investigated the possibility of extending this forecast to beaches with similar geomorphological characteristics to the study areas in the NW coast of the Iberian Peninsula.
